Exercise Classes

Research has shown that regular and intensive exercise is an important component of treatment for Parkinson's disease. However, exercise programs must be designed and facilitated by instructors with specific knowledge of the unique challenges of individuals with Parkinson's disease. As such, the Wisconsin Chapter of the APDA and Harbor Athletic Club held a training workshop in July of 2010 by exercise experts Becky Farley, PhD, PT and Stephanie Christenson, CSCS, RYT-200, AEA. This training was based on their PWR!Moves Program. For more information on this, please visit www.nfnw.org. We trained 20 instructors and launched a free* exercise program at Harbor Athletic Club in Middleton, WI. For details and to sign up for a class, please contact 608-821-6501.**

*Classes are free and are supported through the fundraising efforts of the WI Chapter of the APDA. Suggested donation per class is $5. Donations to the Exercise Program can be made by clicking on the donate button on the right side of this page.

**Please note that classes fill up quickly and there is a waiting list. We are making an effort to expand this program.
